Exhibition
WAS BLEIBT? SABINE SAUER – DAS LEBEN EINER FOTOJOURNALISTIN
Friday, May 22 - Sunday May 24
Fri 12 PM–11 PM | Sat & Sun 12 PM–8 PM
What remains when a person leaves?
And what happens to what they leave behind?
When photojournalist Sabine Sauer suddenly died in 2009, thousands of photographs, unrealized exhibition plans, and countless memories remained behind.
Years later, a chance encounter leads Janina to her neighbor Knut and to Sabine’s body of work. She decides to bring it back into the light once more. Together with her filmmaking partner Laureen, she sets out to trace the past.
They accompany family members, open boxes full of photographs, and ask questions about memory, farewell, and letting go.
The exhibition presents Sabine’s work for magazines such as Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, and taz, accompanied by the documentary film “Sabine Sauer und das, was bleibt”.
The Life of a Photojournalist. Curated by Janina Panning and Laureen Thews.
With special thanks to Knut Hetzer, Filip Hetzer, and Caroline Goldie.
Admission is free.
